What is a solid surface?
Solid Surfacing is made from a blend of acrylics, alumina trihydrates as well as epoxy and polyester resins and pigments. Due to the engineered composition, the material can be thermoformed and seamlessly joined, which allows for endless design possibilities in commercial and residential spaces, with over 150 finishes available. It is a low-maintenance and non-porous material that is an engineered alternative to granite, marble, stone and other natural surfaces.

Benefits of Solid Surfacing
Seamless Joining
Solid surfacing creations have no visible join lines due to the highly technical fabrication process. Once the sheets have been cut to spec, we apply an adhesive that chemically reacts to the material to create an inconspicuous join. The seamless look of solid surfacing is highly desirable for all design concepts as it gives a final, uninterrupted finish.
DURABLE
Solid surfacing material is nonporous, which ensures no infiltration of germs and liquids. The material is also UV resistant which compliments exterior applications. The durability of solid surfacing ensures protection from the inevitable daily wear-and-tear.
Repairable & Re-Polishable
Over time, any and all counter tops will scratch – however, solid surfacing allows all scratches to be eliminated through a simple re-polishing process. All solid surfacing can be fully repaired if damage occurs – we place a piece of material as an inlay to fill the damaged area. Once filled, the inlay piece will be polished out to ensure a seamless finish.
THERMOFORMABLE
By heating solid surfacing material to 160 degrees Celsius, the material softens making it flexible enough to form any shape – this is called thermoforming. Once the material softens, it becomes more pliable allowing us to mould and bend the material into infinite designs of all shapes and sizes. After it has cooled and retained the moulded shape, the material regains its original strength and durabilty.
Hygienic
Solid surfacing boasts nontoxic and self-protective qualities due to the complexity of the material’s composition. Mould and bacteria have nowhere to grow due to the non-porous composition and seamless joining of the material. Its smooth surface does not allow liquids to penetrate, making it easy to clean.
ENVIRONMENTALLY FRIENDLY
Since the material is easily repairable and highly durable – it is there to last a lifetime. Almost all damages to solid surfacing can be repaired, which reduces the impact on our environment.
